德兴市为江西省直辖，上饶市代管市（县级），位于江西省东北部，上饶市北部，赣、浙、皖三省交界处，取“山川之宝，惟德乃兴”之意而定名。截至2016年底，德兴市总面积2101平方千米，辖3个街道、5个镇、6个乡和大茅山省级经济开发区，1990年12月撤县设市。2016年，德兴市常住人口为30.02万人。
